The other afternoon I had a déjà vu that took me back to a childhood memory. Hudson and I had been playing outside on his splash pad and it was 90° weather. And the water felt so cool and so refreshing.
We came back inside and I immediately felt the sensation of how it did when we would go play outside in our yard as kids. Then we’d come back inside where we would bundle up in a towel, put on dry clothes, and then get a yummy snack. Sometimes mom would even take us to McDonald’s to get french fries or an ice cream cone. It was such a fun memory that’s a cherished part of my childhood.
All the more these little memories have been popping up, the more I find myself doing fun things with Hudson. It’s made me so thankful that my parents and especially my mom as she home schooled us found so many ways to make life enjoyable and spontaneously fun for us kids.
It makes me all the more want to do fun simple things with my kids to that bring them joy now and later on in life for their kids too!
There ain’t nothing like a fun water day in the backyard and some hot McDonald’s french fries afterwards!
