Snow Days, and Goal daze. Is it worth making goals this year?

We’ve had so much snow the last few weeks. Honestly, the most I can remember since high school years, (as if it were that far away.😆)

But really, it’s been so beautiful, and fun for us to enjoy. Hudson loves playing in the snow. And I love watching him and Jett run around in the yard. We’ve built fires, made bone broth hot cocoa, and baked warm treats. I love it!🥰

Felicity and I have popped outside just for some fresh air and for a cute fit check. ☺️

Let’s talk about goals.

This week I’d been thinking about them a lot, and if I wanted even to make some this year.

My husband and I make yearly goals together, and in the past I’ve always made goals for myself too. But most of mine were impractical and materialistic rather then simple logical things to do or work on.

I only completed 1 this year…

Do you feel this way? I find that as I get older and the more I grow into my role as a mom, my goals continue to shift pretty drastically to what really is important and realistic. I’ve always been a goal driven person, and I thrive off of completing things. But I also have the tendency to get frustrated when I don’t attain said goals.

So, this year I decided to make very different goals. And ones that’s aren’t necessarily easy, but are achievable as a stay at home wife/mom.

Here’s just a few:

  • Maintain physical exercise 5x a week
  • Blog weekly 1-2x
  • Read 5 books
  • Finish journaling the Old Testament
  • Practice utilizing gratefulness over worry
  • Go to the spa for a day

Practical; this is what I strove for this year when making these. I prayed for wisdom in deciding what I really should put my time and energy into this year. I made other goals that I’d like to accomplish with my children too, and I’m excited to see how they will happen. And I made a few fun ones- like gong to the spa for a day, because why not? 🤩

Goals are great. They help me to stay focused, and keep my eye on what really matters. Will I accomplish everything on my list? Maybe, but if not, that’s okay. I’m going to keep going, keep striving, and pray for God’s guidance and wisdom as I run the race in 2023.

What goals are you working towards this year?

Xoxo, Shantel
