Things I committed to doing before I got pregnant with our 3rd baby. Part 1

I exercised “sporadically” for much of my teenage years. 🙃I did it because I knew it was just good for me, not much out of a love for it.
That being the case, I never was consistent.

Fast-forward to being pregnant with Felicity. I got better at being consistent but I found myself doing as little as I absolutely had to. Then, when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, exercising or walking after each meal became just a routine part of life. In that season, I actual began to enjoy it. Even after Felicity was born I continued to exercise. Not as serious but still found huge gratification in it.
When we decided to continue to grow our family, I knew that there were things I needed to be more focused on in my health if I wanted any chance of preventing the complications, I had with our daughter.

They were many things involved and I’ll share more later, but exercise was a huge part of that. In November of 2023 I started to really focus on doing all kinds of workouts and exercising 4+ days a week. Then in February I went all in and now exercise six days a week for 30 mins. It may be small compared to most but it was just what my body needed. I look forward to it now everyday, and not only for the physical aspect but the mental too. There’s been days where it’s been what’s cleared my mind and help stifled any fears of the future of this pregnancy.
One thing that has always stumped me has been when women can have textbook normal pregnancies, eat anything under the sun and never exercise a day. It used to bug me some. I have 0 risks associated with gestational diabetes. I’m one of the patients that is in the column of “inconclusive”. And in this I realized that this is a victim mindset not a conquerer.
And, I also know that God has used so much of my health journey just in my 24 years to strengthen me as a wife, mom, sister, daughter, friend, etc.
I have looked at this pregnancy SO SO differently than my last. And I can’t emphasize enough that God has been the rock of it all.
I don’t know what the next 6 months brings, but together we’re taking it one day at a time!🙏💪

Xoxo, Shantel
