Thursday Thoughts, Mother’s of the Bible

This week as we approach Mother’s Day in remembrance of mother’s of the Bible, I’ve been reading about moms in the Bible. and the 2 that stuck out were Hannah and Ruth.

Mother's Day, Mom Infertility, Moms day, Widow, Bible , Mothers

Both mothers of different backgrounds. Ruth a widow that remarried and was blessed with a child through Boaz. And then Hannah, a woman who longed for children and eventually was gifted with a child that she GAVE back to the work of the Lord. What a huge sacrificial show of love!

Though they are both moms, they came from different stories. And yes, they had happy endings, but they both had painful beginnings. One lost her husband and moved to a foreign land with her mother-in-law. And the other was tormented by her husband’s other wife because she hadn’t bore him any children.

Every women’s path to becoming a mother is unique. We’ve all had different hardships, different obstacles, and different means, by which we receive the title of mom.

But the one thing we all have in common, is the respect we each have in how we were given this title of a mother. And that is a beautiful thing to be grasped.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us not forget those moms to be, who are in the painful season, longing for a child to call their own. Pray for them, love them, and let them know they’re not alone.

With love, Shantel
