Spiritual warfare

I

I’ve been trying very hard to stay way from the internet. It’s a broken place right now.

This past month I’ve seen Satan attack the church like a tornado.

Just within this week I had to explain to my 5 year old that people were sobbing at church on Sunday because a family has been torn apart, and why a young husband and father will no longer stand in his family’s doorway ever again.

There are certain things my husband and I protect our children from. That’s our job. Things they are not old enough to understand, carry mentally, and feel the full weight they bare. Nor should they.

But what we won’t do, is hush, and act like the devil isn’t trying his absolute hardest to rip the body of Christ apart. In some ways so quietly and deceptively. And in some ways loudly and abhorrently.

Our young children know about God and they know about the devil. We strive tirelessly to show not just thru how we teach but how we live, that our lives completely evolve around Him.

They know in their still developing minds how God works and how evil Satan is.

I’ve prayed over them a million times for their walk with Christ, but these last few nights as we’ve prayed together as a family at bedtime as we’ve done every night for years now, my chest has been so tight.

Am I equipping my children for spiritual warfare?

A man died this week in my country who loved Jesus. His life is a testament for fighting for freedom, respect amongst conflict, and truth. But he knew just as much, that our fight is not against flesh and blood but this present darkness(Eph.6:12).

Raising our children to fully know Christ is my husband and mines greatest calling. Not a successful career, not a life we want others to approve of, not even notability or wealth.

Teaching our children how to strengthen themselves in the Lord is one of the greatest things we can give them.

A family would be thriving and growing if the Holy Spirit had reign in there every thought and deed in the home.

A man wouldn’t be dead right now if God and morals derived from His Word were apart of children’s everyday lives and education.

I hope, my brothers and sisters in Christ, that even with how hard these things are to stomach, these hard things have brought you closer to Christ, as it has done to me. Praying that our eyes would be open to the truth- to the devil’s schemes and lies we are told every. single. day. Praying that we would walk by the Spirit and dedicate our lives and homes to seeing spiritual warfare for what it is. And pouring scripture into every aspect of our lives.

Put on your armor and don’t you dare take it off.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Prayerfully,

Shantel
