I used to be a Forever 21 girl. A lecture to myself on trying slow fashion.

Now, I’m not dissing Forever 21, I still shop them, here and there.

But for the most part my style has really evolved into something different then the teen years.

In my teens I definitely went for more of the skinny jeans and trendy tops style with converse, a belt, and sometimes a cardigan. It’s still a cute style, BUT as my figure has changed and I’ve grown confident in trying different looks, I’ve discovered some different outfits I love and different places to shop as an adult.

I also am coming to grips with purchasing clothing pieces that are more of investments rather then fast fashion.

I’m realizing that a lot of times when I feel my closet is full but there’s “nothing to wear”, it’s because I’ve purchased “cute” rather then “adored and thought over”.

One thing I want to slowly do over the next 2 years is invest in more pieces I adore, that are maybe pricier but ones I know I’ll wear and love for years. And (sigh*) purchase less fast fashion. I still love my Amazon finds and definitely buying from small businesses. But I want to bring more value to my closet.

Trendy is fun, but timeless is forever.

Xoxo, Shantel
