Family Vacation – St George, Utah. Guide for Young Families

I

I’ve gotten thru mooost of the unpacking and laundry from our trip, and so I’m sitting down justifying a minute to myself to share all about our trip this last week.

We had so much fun and it honestly felt so surreal taking our first, just us, family vacation with our five-some.

Where did we go? St George, Utah!

We stopped on our way thru Las Vegas to see family and enjoy some fun there too. We left on a Thursday and drove 3 hours after work and then the rest of the way Friday morning. Spent 2ish days there and 3ish days in St George.

The atmosphere was so family friendly and we loved how easy it was to get to everywhere in town.

We stayed at the “Staybridge Suites St George by IHG” and would rate it 9/10! We got a suite with 2 queen beds, and had an adjoined living space with kitchen. The rooms were perfect for our family, and even with it being a holiday was a better affordable spot for what our family needed! They had so many amenities including: great pools, a free laundry room area, a big breakfast, a dinner social hour, gym, pickleball court, and much more.

Eating in St. George was completely doable and even delicious.

Because of the certain allergen foods I cannot eat I have to be careful of food and dining out. We were very fortunate to find quite a few places that I could safely eat at. We also went to a natural grocers and picked up a few things I could cook in our kitchen.

Our favorite places we found to eat at were:

They all had options that I could eat or drink that were gluten free, dairy free, soy free, almond free, and some refined sugar free.

Out of all the things that we did with our kids, here were the most loved:

  • Thunder Junction Park- has a train ride!
  • Fossil Falls Park – giant slide!
  • Hidden Valley Park – has a water splash area!
  • Zion National Park
  • Jellystone Park , Zion. Water Zone

My kids love parks and animals so these activities were a great fit for our family. If we had more time we would’ve spent more of it exploring trails and such around St. George. But with our young kids we also wanted to be cautious of cliffs and wildlife.

Speaking of wildlife, funny story… So Zion National Park is home to many different types of animals including the infamous Great Basin Rattlesnake. As we walked along one of the trails there was a small embankment that led right down to the water. Perfect to stop and enjoy the scenery. As we walked around and the kids played, a park ranger came by. He nonchalantly asked us if we had seen a rattlesnake there. We hadn’t, but apparently just the day before where we were at they had to relocate a 4 foot rattlesnake perched under a log. Mamma was done going off trail to say the least, haha.

Overall we loved our trip and definitely would recommend for any family, with young kids even, to travel to and visit.

Do you have a fun trip planned this summer? I’d love to know!

Xoxo, Shantel
