1 year with our Harrison Cooper

I

This year has flown past. Literally. With our first 2 babies, time didn’t seem to go quick as it has been. But with our 3rd, it’s felt like a freight train at full speed never stopping.

I blinked and he was 1.

I have a love hate thing with watching my babies grow. I’ve done this 3 times now and it truly doesn’t get easier. In fact maybe harder, knowing I’ll never have those newborn days with them again. Harrison has been the best friend Hudson’s needed and the baby brother sissy needed. But, watching them grow, learn, and discover is one of the most fulfilling experiences as a parent.

His first year was definitely eventful and started out a bit rough with his lip and tongue tie causing slow weight gain. But watching him overcome it in leaps and bounds has been one of the most reassuring things as a mother. God has been so faithful in this.

He loves people. So much so, that he’d rather do nothing and be with others, than play alone with every toy imaginable.

He’s empathetic. When a sibling is hurt or crying, he’s always there feeling whatever they are.

He loves music and drumming. Since around 6 months he has loved drumming on anything and everything. We may have another drummer in the family. And more than any of my children, has loved going to sleep with the sound of me singing hymns to him.

He was the last piece to our puzzle. When we started our family we knew we wanted 3. And if you know my story with Felicity’s pregnancy, deciding to have another child was hard for me. I was scared, intimidated, and knew the amount of dedication and determination I would need to get through another pregnancy.

But God y’all.

It turned out to be the most redeeming pregnancy, labor and delivery, story I could’ve imagined. Harrison completed our family in so many ways, and God worked every step of it.

This cute smiley boy reminds me every day of God’s promises and he’s redeeming love

Happy first year buddy! We love you!

Xoxo, Shantel
