Basic Shoes

I’m the type of girl that will wear the same 2 pairs of shoes for a whole week. I buy the basics that I can wear universally so that they go with a lot and also don’t take up much closet space. For me, shoes aren’t a huge statement. However, they can make or break an outfit. If your outfit is classy and professional, wearing flip flops confuses and crashes the party. And if your wearing colored jeans, a complimenting T-shirt, but yellow pumps, it’s more of a distraction rather then a flowing outfit. So for this post, I wanted to share how to pick the right shoes for an outfit as well as what shoes I found are necessary to have in my closet!

These are my essentials:

Black flats
Brown sandals
White tennis shoes
Black pumps
(Check the bottom of the page for links to buy these essentials!)

With these in your closet, you will rule the street. I’ll vouch for the fact that if you have these in your closet you can have the right shoe for almost any outfit!!
So with that being said let’s dive into how to wear each one.

Black Flats:
These are the epitome of most ladies closets. If you look in your closet now I bet you have a pair. These beauties can be worn with wide/straight leg pants as well as skinny. There a great shoe to pick when indecisive about an outfit, and with the right pair can have the ability to dress up an outfit.

Brown Sandals:
These are my go-to in the spring and summer. I literally wear these more than any shoe in the warm months. They go with so much and make a spring or summer outfit look more peppy and fun! These are great for skinny jeans, skirts, and dresses. I can’t advocate enough for these!

White Tennis Shoes:
Okay, so these shoes are a game changer. Because not only can you wear them with a T-shirt and most any pants, but also with a cute blazer and button up and look fabulous. They are THE perfect go-between for those days you want classy but comfy and your on your feet all day. These have been a staple in my closet for years and don’t disappoint!

Black Pumps:
When I think classy I automatically go to a black pump. While this shoe can be one that many shy away from due to not an occasion to wear it or just not a fan of high heels, I’m here to change your mind. Because not only can they be worn as casual but you can also find a comfortable pair that you can love! The best way to wear them casual is with a nice pair of jeans and a dressy blouse. The shoes pull the outfit together and make it possible to still be comfy but professional!
