A year ago, when we had our third born, I came to the realization that we have so many health record papers. And they were pretty much all stashed in manila folders. Everything from receipts, to bills that were paid, bills that needed to be paid, important labs, and just records for special health things.

So with this all piling up, I decided I needed to have a way of separating things and keeping our health records organized for each person in our family.
Before I jump into this DIY project, I want to first just emphasize how important it is to keep health records. There have been SO many times that I have had to refer to a bill or receipt showing that something had been paid and with what card in order to work with health insurance. In the end it has saved us thousands of dollars, so I seriously recommend it!
With that being said, now onto the fun creative part!
So the supplies you’ll need are:
1-1/2 inch binder,
File index dividers,
A fine tip marker to write with or a labeler,
A stapler or paper clips,
A whole puncher.
In this season of life with kids, we have mostly only dealt with hospital bills as far as pregnancy and birth, pediatricians, speech therapy, and dentists!

So what I did is made a tab for speech therapy, pediatrician appointments, and a tab for dental appointments. Under each of these, I put receipts, bills and medical records based on those categories.
I staple or paper clip the receipts with the bills/EOB’s along with any of the records for each separate appointment
Once you have those separated, you can hole punch and put in your binder.
I like to also keep my kids Social Security cards, as well as birth certificates in these binders so they are easy to get to.
As things are paid and completed, I then just file them in the binders!
I had fun playing around with a cover page. I’ve attached a link for a blank one below from Canva that you can use or you can create one yourself!
This has been such a huge help for keeping track of medical stuff for our family. I hope you may find this helpful too!
Xoxo, Shantel
